Art Show

There’s certainly lots of excitement in the air as we edge closer to Friday and our Annual Art Show. For families who are new to Preston this year, the Art show is the highlight of the Preston PS calendar.

While the artwork is the main feature of the Art Show, we also have performances from our three choirs and Grade 6 band.

Every child has had the opportunity to choose their favourite piece of art from their 2024 folio which will be displayed.

Our amazing art teachers Mavra Kotsabouikis and Edwina Atkins are currently hard at work displaying the artwork. It is a huge and very complex task, as they have to ensure all of the pieces actually fit. They have displayed a selection of 2D and 3D pieces. They have very high standards and want to ensure they display the art to best showcase the talents of our students.

We have everything in place, we’ve ordered the sausages, bread, sauce and drinks. Once again we have the regular favourites - popcorn and fairy floss - which are always a big hit with the children. We are also having a gelati van on site.

All we need now is for the weather to be fine and it will be lots of fun for everyone. The current forecast is for no showers, but then again it is Melbourne, so fingers crossed we avoid the rain.

We hope lots of families come along and appreciate our spectacular art exhibition and enjoy what is always a great school community event. Remember EVERY student will have a piece of artwork on display.

We Urgently Need Your Help!

We need parents to help us make the Art Show a successful community event. We have a roster that requires support from parents and although we currently have a number of parents who have signed up we still need more.

Local Neighbours

I have received a letter from residents who live in Jeffrey St requesting that I ask parents to think before they park.

Unfortunately we have some parents who are blocking driveways, which prevents the residents from getting in and out of their homes.

Please be respectful of our local residents.

Wool

We have a group of students in Grade 5 who are making animals using wool and polyester stuffing. They are selling them for a small amount of money and are donating the money to the RSPCA.

If you have any spare wool that you no longer require, they would be very appreciative of any donations.

Swimming

Next Monday November 18th, the Grade 2 and 3 students will start a two-week, intensive swimming program at the Reservoir Leisure Centre. The students will have a lesson each day from Monday through to Thursday.

Please don’t forget to remind your child that they need to bring their bathers, towel and goggles with them each day.

We will not be contacting parents to bring forgotten items to school. Please ensure your child has all of their clothing clearly named.
