Learning & Teaching

Co-creating a New Science Unit with Traces of Learning

Our teaching teams recently collaborated with Jarryd from Traces of Learning to design an innovative new science unit. Through joint planning sessions, we’ve created an engaging program that will spark curiosity and encourage critical thinking in science. We look forward to seeing our students dive into these new activities over the coming weeks!

Preps as scientists

As part of their science unit, the prep students had fun on a materials hunt, searching for everyday objects and learning to identify their properties. They worked together to group the items by what they were made of, such as wood, plastic, or metal. This activity helped them understand how different materials are used to make the objects we see and use every day.

Assessment

As we approach the end of the school year, we are completing the final aspect of our assessment schedule across Prep to Grade 6. This period marks the culmination of our students' hard work and learning. Our students have participated in system-wide assessments from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), providing valuable insights into their academic progress. We are encouraged by the remarkable growth and development demonstrated by our students throughout the year. Thank you for your continued support as we celebrate their achievements and reflect on their learning journeys.

Sport Updates from Ms Glasson

Cricket Superstars

On November 1st, the St. Brigid's cricket team competed in the Regional competition. Our girls showed exceptional skill and teamwork, making it all the way to the Grand Final, where they narrowly missed victory by just 3 runs. Congratulations to Tahlia, Summer, Orla, Leila, Audrey, Eleni, Mackenzie, Alexia, and Scarlett, who can now proudly call themselves Regional Cricket Runners-Up!

Athletics Champions

A huge congratulations to Stephanie Sarac, Piper Van de Velde, and Anakin Van de Velde, who excelled at the Regional Athletics Finals. Stephanie placed 2nd in both the hurdles and high jump, Piper earned 2nd place in the 200m, and Anakin finished 8th in the 800m. Amazing achievements by all!

Middle School Orienteering

Middle School students joined hundreds of peers from across the Macedon Ranges for an orienteering "come and try" day at Tony Clarke. It was a fantastic experience, blending math skills with team work and real-world navigation. With map reading and problem-solving, students strengthened their math abilities and enjoyed the thrill of the outdoors, all while building stronger bonds with their classmates. Well done to all our Middle students for embracing this new challenge with such enthusiasm!
