INTERACT | Empowering Change Through Local and Global Action in 2025
Following an incredibly successful Planning Day at the Frankston Yacht Club—venue courtesy of our amazing partners at Rotary—we are excited to share Interact’s goals for 2025.
The event, held on Friday, 1 November, was highlighted by a special presentation from Cherie Ramsey of Disaster Aid Australia. Cherie awarded our Interact team a formal certificate of thanks for raising over $5,000 to fund a SkyHydrant, a water purification device that provides access to clean water in developing communities. She explained how this technology is already transforming the lives of hundreds of students and staff at Tashithang Middle Secondary School in Samtse, Bhutan.
Inspired by this impactful feedback, our team is even more determined to make a difference. Here is a look at our ambitious goals for 2025:
🌈 St Kilda Pride March: Elevating Our School’s Presence
Early next year, Interact will partner with Rainbow Alliance to participate in the St Kilda Pride March once again, aiming to create a bold and memorable Frankston High School presence. From crafting eye-catching signs to designing custom merchandise, our goal is to showcase the school’s support for the LGBTQI+ community. We will be collaborating on ways to bring visibility to this initiative and ensure our message of unity and inclusivity shines throughout the event.
🌏 International Projects: Hygiene Awareness and Global Impact
Interact remains dedicated to supporting Soap Aid, an organisation delivering essential hygiene products to communities in need. This year, we will raise funds through William Adams Packing Kits (WAKs), along with educational campaigns through social media and school assemblies. We also plan to collaborate with World Challenge to support their charity trip to Nepal, where they will assist a village in need. This partnership underscores our commitment to creating a positive global impact and reminds us of the power of student-driven initiatives.
🫂 ASRC: Extending Our Support to Refugees
Our ongoing support for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) will continue to be a priority in 2025. Through close communication with the ASRC, we aim to identify ways to best meet the needs of refugees and offer our resources and time to support their vital work.
🐸 Strengthening Rainbow Alliance: Supporting LGBTQI+ Voices
Supporting Rainbow Alliance—our school’s queer support club—remains a central focus for 2025. We will continue to raise awareness and visibility for the club, especially in making it an inclusive and safe space for all year levels. Planned initiatives include impactful assembly speeches, vibrant posters, and expanded use of Rainbow Alliance’s frog logo to further embed the club’s identity across the school. Another priority is growing the club’s membership by building a welcoming, empowering environment that resonates with a diverse group of students.
🍪 Switchboard Fundraiser: Baking for LGBTQI+ Rights
In the first half of 2025, we are organising a bake sale fundraiser to support LGBTQI+ rights through Switchboard. Currently, we are scouting community festivals and events in Melbourne to host this stall. We are eager to involve the school community, and if you know of any upcoming events where we could make an impact, please reach out!
Looking forward, Interact is committed to leading meaningful change within our school and beyond. The success of our 2025 goals will reflect our dedication to empathy, inclusion, and global citizenship. We are excited to share more updates as we work together to make a lasting impact—thank you for your continued support!
