Ryan’s Rambling
Dear Families,
It is certainly quite a hot end to the week. The heat looks as if it will continue into tomorrow, so please make sure that you all keep yourselves well hydrated and sun smart!
Our staff worked hard across Monday to compile, moderate, reflect and write many of our Semester Reports. Believe it or not, the reporting process takes weeks, not days. We thank you community for supporting our Curriculum Day on Monday, as it really did ease a lot of the workload for staff. Unfortunately, your child will not receive a written report for Physical Education this reporting cycle. They will still receive a progression point against the Victorian Curriculum. We apologise for this and thank everyone for your understanding.
On Tuesday night, our School Council met for the final formal meeting of the year. I am absolutely excited that our Council endorsed our newly written Strategic Plan for 2024 – 2028. A copy of the new plan will be available on our school website in the coming days. I am very pleased with the direction our amazing school is headed over the next four years. If you get the chance, please have a read through our goals, key improvement strategies and targets. Thank you to our School Council for the rich discussion and support for our strategic direction.
The first of a few Transition sessions began this week. I wanted to stress, again, that the sessions in the coming weeks are all part of a major process we run here at Dana Street. Classes and teachers will not be finalised for a couple of weeks, at least. Despite our best attempts as communicating this to our students, we still experience students believing that their teacher and classmates are already decided. I guess, it is important to remember that the process we go through is extremely thorough, and our staff meet over a number of weeks to ensure that we have the best balance for our classrooms. Your child will find out their teacher for 2025 before the State Wide Transition Day on the 10th of December.
Next week, you should receive some correspondence from the Department of Education regarding the 2025 School Saver Bonus. There is some information attached to this newsletter, including a contact e-mail address in case, for some reason, you don’t receive anything.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Ryan 😊
