Welcome back to Term 2

In Term 2, students will continuously learn and enjoy Mandarin with all the different topics across all levels as under:

FOUNDATION

In Term 2, students will be introduced to a new topic 'My Family,' where they will expand their knowledge of number words to count family members. They will receive continuous encouragement to build confidence in speaking more Chinese words. Additionally, students will learn the Chinese version of ‘Baby Shark’ as it relates to the topic and 'Two Tigers' for the Open Night performance.

   YEAR 1/2:

This term, students will be introduced to a new topic, 'the Days    of the Week,' which builds upon the Term 1 topic, 'Months of

the Year.' They will learn the actual days of the week while

creating a calendar for May using Chinese characters. Through

this, they will gain the ability to express dates in Chinese,

including discussing their birthdays in sentence form.

Additionally, students will learn the Chinese version of the Happy Birthday Song associated with this topic.

YEAR 3/4:

In Term 2, students will explore the topic of 'Giant Pandas: An Endangered Species.' This subject will furnish students with critical facts about giant pandas, which are facing the crisis of extinction in China. They will research the various factors that may have contributed to this crisis and have the opportunity to discuss ways to protect them from extinction. Additionally, students will learn Chinese words and phrases related to the topic.

YEAR 5/6:

This term, students will explore the topic of 'An Imaginary Trip to China,' combining the geographical knowledge and various information they learned about China in Term 1 with the theme of 'Facts of China.' They will have the opportunity to further investigate cities and tourist attractions through the 'A 12-Day Tour of China' activity in class. By the term's end, students will craft their passports and develop an imaginary itinerary for a seven-day trip to China.
