From the Music Room…

Mrs Keep

Welcome to Term 2!

This term Foundation students will be continuing their exploration of music by learning about: Dynamics, Beat, Pitch and Expression.

This will involve singing, dancing, playing instruments, learning to listen and work together.

Grade 1/2

Learning to tell the difference between BEAT and RHYTHM will be a focus this term, along with exploring PITCH maps, and experimenting with TEMPO.

Fun games, such as Lily Pad rhythms will be used to help students build their skills.

They will continue to play music on our Marimbas and Xylophones.

Junior Choir (grades 1-3) meets each Thursday during lunch. We are working on some special performances for Education Week and Open Day.

Open Day: Tuesday May 14th - we will be performing for Grandparents and Special People in the morning (9am), then again for the whole community in the evening between 5.30 and 6.30pm.

Grade 3/4

Grade 3 students are excited to start learning the recorder and ukulele. Grade 4 students will continue developing their skills on these instruments. FYI: recorders will be kept at school until students are able to confidently play a tune!

Grade 5/6

This term we will be exploring World Music, beginning with "The Pentatonic Scale", then looking at various instruments from Asia.

Dances from around the world will be explored then groups will select a country, choose some music, then choreograph their own dance to perform to their peers.
