Mission Action Day Wrapup

Leadership's Letter

On the final day of Term 1, the entire Mazenod College community came together to embody our guiding principle of, 'We have but one heart, one soul' during our annual Mission Action Day.

The day commenced with an Easter liturgy, before students set out to walk the streets of Mulgrave in solidarity, demonstrating our commitment to supporting the works of our Oblate Missions both locally and globally. Upon returning to the college, students and staff enthusiastically participated in various carnival activities, including the popular coin toss, lazer tag, inflatable carnival activities, as well as contests like the AFL longest kick and crossbar challenge. The Year 7 area and cafeteria offered a diverse range of culinary delights to suit every taste bud, including jacket potatoes and speciality cuisines from Italy, Japan, India and Malaysia. On the main stage in the quadrangle, crowds were entertained by an array of musical performances and a Rubik's Cube act from students across different year levels in the Mazenod's Got Talent. Congratulations to Nishith Rajanbabu (Year 8) for winning this year's top prize with his incredible singing performance that impressed the judges.

The day wrapped up with the entire school gathering in the Provence Centre for the drawing of the Easter Egg Raffle and Major Raffle. Much to the dismay of our students, the two major prizes were won by two well-respected members of staff this year. The event concluded with Dr. Shannon and Fr. Harry congratulating students and staff for their involvement and collective efforts in raising vital funds for the Oblate Missions, which directly support projects around the world and in Australia assisting the most marginalised within the local communities they serve.

It takes a dedicated team to pull off an event like Mission Action Day. Sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to its success, including those who set up stages and equipment, planned the Easter liturgy, coordinated walkathon logistics, organized games and activities, prepared acts for the talent show, managed food orders, arranged raffle prizes and Easter eggs, prepared cash floats, and assisted on the day with various activities and food stalls — all contributing to the overall enjoyment and success of the day.

Mazenod College extends its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the many local businesses, families, staff and students for their generous donations of items, prizes for the Raffles and monetary support of Mission Action Day and our Oblate Missions. Please endeavour to show your support for the families and businesses who generously supported our fundraising efforts.
