Students will dive into the 'T' of STEM - Technology! Technology is a vital tool to enrich learning experiences. It empowers students to develop crucial problem-solving skills, comprehend emerging technologies, and develop self-motivation.

 

Foundation and Year 1/2 students have begun by exploring the basics of coding through 'unplugged' activities, avoiding the use of devices. They have engaged in tasks like guiding characters through paper mazes using cardinal directions, before transferring their skills to iPad activities.

 

Meanwhile, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 students are beginning to work on their Smart City Project. They are learning about micro:bits and exploring their potential components for use in their designs. Through this project, they are gaining proficiency in block coding, converting it to JavaScript, and collaborating with team members to share their creations.

 

As Education Week approaches, themed 'Spotlight on STEM', we're gearing up for exciting events. During Twilight School on Thursday, May 16th, Athol Road will host a guest presenter who will deliver an engaging show filled with thrilling experiments for students and families. It's a fantastic opportunity to see STEM in action!
