In Term 2, our young learners in Prep to Year 2 are making strides in literacy. Alphabet mastery is underway, with a focus on identifying letters within their names and beginning to fingerspell. This paves the way for reading proficiency—a pivotal milestone in their educational journey. Fingerspelling not only enhances communication skills but also fosters an understanding and appreciation of Deaf culture. Encouraging this skill empowers children to connect and engage with others in diverse ways.

In Term 2, our Year 7 students are solidifying their foundational knowledge. After revisiting letters and numbers, they're now diving into handshapes—a crucial skill for upcoming assessments involving list marking using their hands (list buoys). Mastering this technique enhances their communication abilities, enabling them to efficiently organize information for fellow signers. As parents, witnessing their progress is truly rewarding—they're kicking goals and paving the way for continued success. Encouraging their enthusiasm and dedication fosters a love for learning that will serve them well in their educational journey and beyond.
