Welcome to the College Resource Library!
EDUCATION WEEK
The College Resource Library is excited to be helping celebrate Education Week this year. During this time, the College is promoting many events including Prep Information Night, Open Night and other activities across next week.
Prep Information Night
The Resource Library will be setting up a display for Prep Information Night in the P-2 (Yalka building). Our theme is the National Simultaneous Storytime text “Bowerbird Blues” by Aura parker. We have chosen to celebrate this book during this event, as we love to ensure all students across P-12 have the opportunity to participate and explore these recognised texts. Simultaneous Storytime will run all of next week as well, with the simultaneous reading occurring Wednesday, May 22nd. This display will give our young students a ‘taster’ for what is ahead in the library and how they can get involved with this engaging story this year. The Library Team loves to present exciting and captivating displays on behalf of the College Library, this is a vital step in promoting the value of reading and literacy, especially for the new generation of students.
College Open Night
The Resource Library will also be open during the College Open Night on Wednesday 15 May. We will be open to parents, staff and students who wish to take a calm wander around our lovely space. This is a great opportunity to tour the library and see the range of resources and spaces it has to offer. Students can take this time to share their favourite area, book or aspect of the library with their friends and family. We look forward to seeing you in The College Resource Library this Open Night!
MOTHERS DAY
Mothers Day is approaching, and the College Resource Library is taking the opportunity to provide engaging and creative activities for students during Creator’s Club and borrowing sessions. Over the last few weeks, we have run a Creator’s Club group with a special Mothers Day craft. Additionally, students have taken part in some Mothers Day colouring activities within borrowing times. This has provided an engaging and creative activity for students to take part in during the week.
BOOK SUGGESTIONS
The Resource Library is ordering new books and resources throughout the year. Our aim is to provide students and staff with a wide variety of engaging, appealing, and informative resources to promote literacy and educational outcomes. We frequently ask students to provide us with feedback and suggestions in regard to books and recommendations to buy in future. We are reaching out to all students, if there is a particular book you would like for our library, please visit us and let us know.
Many thanks,
The Library Team: Jen, Karen and Meg.
