What's Happening at OSHC

Staffing at OSHC is managed directly by Their Care Regional Services.

Please be aware that we are currently actively recruiting for additional staff to meet demands for our OSHC service.

General Information about OSHC at Upwey South Primary School

At Upwey South Primary School, our community is serviced through an Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Program, managed by a Department of Education (DE) approved provider, TheirCare: www.theircare.com.au

This program is held in our onsite Lifelong Learning Centre, within the school grounds. This building is directly opposite the school office with easy access from either Morris Road and Griffiths Road.

The ease of access to the facility for families, and the high-quality programs on offer, make it an extremely popular service amongst our school community.

At Upwey South Primary School, we understand that consistency (in daily routines and structures) and predictability (of adult responses and communication) are crucial to helping students to feel valued at school. It is for this reason that our OSHC service is staffed by regular permanent staff members; at a ratio of 1 staff member for every 11 students.

Before and After School Care

Before-School Care and After-School Care is available each weekday, with the following hours of operation:

During before-school and after-school care, only students of Upwey South Primary School may access the OSHC service.

All students attending before-school care are offered breakfast (a variety of food choices with warm and cold daily menu choices available). In order to receive breakfast, students should arrive to OSHC prior to 8:15am. Each morning, at 8:45am students in Year One- Year Six are dismissed to attend their classrooms; with Foundation students walked by an OSHC staff member to meet their classroom teacher.

All students attending after-school care are offered afternoon tea (a variety of food choices with warm and cold daily menu choices available) when they enter the service at 3:30pm. Students who remain in the service after 5:30pm are offered a selection of light supper items, should they wish to eat again. Each afternoon, students in Year One - Year Six make their way independently from the classroom to the OSHC service; with Foundation students being directly collected from their classroom by an OSHC staff member at 3:25pm.

Throughout both before-school and after-school care, students are able to take part in arranged activities (both inside and outside) which cater for all ages and interests.
