Year 4 in the Kitchen

This term we welcomed the Year 4 students back into the kitchen with an NMPS favourite of Margherita pizza. Careful measuring and mixing was required and then lots of teamwork to knead our dough to perfection. Pizza bases were diligently smeared with tomato passata and sprinkled with just the right amount of cheese, it was a delicious meal to start the term.

We have started to learn our three knife skills, the bear claw, the tunnel, and the rock and chop. Everyone practised with lots of parsley from the garden which was then sprinkled onto our cooked pizzas.

In Week 2 we continued our practise our knife skills, by slicing, chopping and shredding silverbeet, purple beans, cherry tomatoes, baby capsicums, and lots of herbs from the garden to toss through our pasta salad with some feta, olive oil and seasonings.

By Week 3 it was time to put our new skills to the test and create rainbow sushi rolls with our carefully sliced vegetables. It was the perfect meal for the warm weather we had at the start of the week.

Well done Year 4 on a fantastic start to the year!
