Place Value in Maths
This term Year 6 students are learning about place value. We have been experimenting with various activities to review what we already know about place value, decimals, and fractions, and learning and consolidating these skills through collaborative tasks.
One activity that we worked on in pairs was the 'Decimats Game', where we used a 6-sided die and a fractions die to create a fraction, and shade in the number of rectangles that this represented on our worksheets. In this game, we were asked to convert the fraction to a decimal and determine the decimal value of the whole space coloured in on our Decimat.
It was lots of fun and a great opportunity to work together!
