Year 5 Political Parties 

Grade 5s have been working hard this term to learn all about the different levels of government and politics. We finished our unit of inquiry with an election campaign designed for students to identify something in the school that needs positive change and create a series of documents, speeches and persuasive texts to gain the votes of the grade 3 and 4 students in the mock election. Grade 5 students were able to fine-tune their public speaking skills ahead of Grade 6 leadership opportunities, and collaborated with people they might not work with all the time. All students delivered fantastic campaigns, and the election was won by the Music Magic group of Sol S, Mabel D, Tali L and Marley F, who campaigned for more musical performances throughout the year. A highlight of their campaign was a song called Please Vote for Us performed to the tune of Sweet Caroline on election day, which secured a lot of votes. Well done to all Grade 5s.
