Assistant Principal's Report

I cannot believe that this is the last newsletter for 2023 and that I have been at this fabulous school for one year already! I have absolutely loved getting to know all our amazing staff, students and families. When I reflect on all the great teaching and learning experiences, the successful community events we have held and the systems and structures we have implemented, I am extremely proud of all that we have accomplished. This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve as we build on the practices in place and continue to work together even stronger.
House Point Reward – Extra Play
Cowan Bunjils (Green House) won the extra play for the term, for the second time this year and remain to date as the only house to receive the extra play this year. They once again enjoyed an extra half an hour of play with many fun activities planned. I would like to thank Nathalia from Team Kids who organised and ran an activity and to Mrs Pappas who organised all the other activities. A big thanks also to our Year 6 leaders who helped set up and pack up all the equipment.
Transition
On Tuesday 12th December, all students met their 2024 class teacher and peers. A lot of thought and effort goes into building classes, and we believe that we have the right combination of students. Behaviours, friendships and academic performance are all taken into account to build evenly spread classes for the upcoming year.
Prep Celebration Morning
On Wednesday 13th December we held our Prep Celebration Morning to acknowledge and mark the important milestone – the end of the first year of schooling (Prep). It was wonderful to see so many of our families there and to see how proud our students were when they received their certificates. Well done to our wonderful Prep Team and Breffni, our Performing Arts Teacher, for her work in preparing the students for the special performance.
Reports
Reports are ready to be viewed on Compass from today. For Year 6 parents and those leaving the school, we do ask that you remember to download your child’s report, as you will be unable to access it on Compass after Wednesday 20th December when we roll over the students for the coming year. This applies even if you still have a younger child remaining at our school, or if you are moving to a school that uses Compass.
School Council, Parents Association and Class Representatives
I would like to acknowledge and thank our parent community, School Council members, PA, Parent Reps and all those who volunteered for fundraisers, excursions and incursions. We couldn’t do this without your support.
Below are photos from our End of Year Picnic. It was so good to see so many of our families there as well as many of our new 2024 families. It was another spectacular school event!
Year 6 Graduation
On Monday 18th December we will celebrate our Year 6s at their Graduation Ceremony. It will be a great opportunity to reflect on their years at CSPS and share anecdotes about their favourite moments. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our Year 6s and wish them all the best as they commence the next exciting chapter in their life.
Wishing everyone an amazing holiday ahead. See you in the New Year.
