From the 1/2 Classrooms

Welcome 2024!

Welcome!

Welcome to Team 1/2 2024! We hope that you had a relaxing holiday break, and were able to spend time with your loved ones. We look forward to working with your children this year, and continuing to build on the strong home-school partnerships which were established in the Foundation and Grade 1 years.

Here are some happy snaps of our first week back at school:

Below are a few things to note as we begin the school year:

Communication

Please be aware that the main means by which we will communicate with you will be via the online COMPASS system. To make sure that you receive all communication from the school, please ensure that your registered email address is one that you check on a regular basis.

Before school

For the beginning of the school year, students will follow the same process as Term 4 2023 for the start of each day. When students arrive from 8:45am, they can place their bags at their line up spots outside the Gallery or Blue Dot (as explained on transition day). At 8:55am, when the bell rings, teachers will meet their class and direct them inside to start the day of learning. If your child arrives after 9:15am, they are required to be signed in at the school office. Please note, students should not be on the school grounds until 8:45am, unless supervised by a parent or carer.

Staff are in classrooms from 8.45am, if you have urgent information to share they are available. For matters of a non-urgent nature please communicate via COMPASS and we can make a time which suits us both for discussions.

Dismissal

Students will be dismissed from the Gallery or Main Building and we ask that parents meet their child outside. Please ensure you have clearly communicated with your child where you will meet them at the end of the school day.

Home Reading Books

Home Reading Books will be sent home with your child at the beginning of Week 3 (Monday 12th February).  The purpose of home reading is to practise, build confidence and develop a love of reading.

A few friendly reminders

  • Please make sure all items brought to school are clearly named, including plastic lunch containers as they are often misplaced
  • Red Reader Bags come to school everyday
  • Please remember to send your child’s art smock and library bag and rulers to school
  • Hats are to be worn every day in Terms 1 & 4, and when the UV rating is high in Terms 2 & 3. It is a great idea to keep them in the bottom of your child’s bag in Terms 2 & 3.
  • Team 1/2 Sport will be held on a Monday. Students are encouraged to wear their house coloured t-shirt on this day.
  • Please remember to complete the ‘2024 BPPS Technology Agreement Parent/Student’ via COMPASS.  We are hoping this will be completed by tomorrow, Friday 9th February so students can use the iPads in the classroom and specialist learning programs.

We are planning on running a Parent Helpers/Volunteers training session, so keep an eye out for information on COMPASS, we would love our parents to be involved in classroom activities.

We look forward to getting to know you and your families throughout the year!

Kind regards,
