Yellow Class

We can’t believe we are already halfway through Term 1! After a gentle start to the year in the Yellow Class, it has been wonderful to see students settled back into their routines and engage in learning across different spaces in the school. Our students are proudly demonstrating our school values each day; showing Responsibility by engaging in class tasks, Resilience as they transition between spaces and adapt to change, and Bravery when trying new or challenging tasks, including developing independence with cutlery when eating. We are so proud of the growth and determination they are showing.

Blue Class

Shrove Tuesday

Students explored the meaning of Shrove Tuesday and its connection to the beginning of Lent, learning how the day traditionally involves using up rich ingredients before the Lenten season begins. As a class, they made pancakes together, practising important social skills such as sharing, turn‑taking, and working collaboratively. Students used Proloquo to help measure ingredients, follow visual supports, and sequence the steps in the recipe. They also shared and wrote about their photos and classroom experiences of Shrove Tuesday and Lent using our new app, Micalo.

Music

It has been a wonderful start to the year in music lessons across the whole school. Students from our Junior class through to our Senior classes have been exploring singing, dancing and instrument playing as they settle into the new school year.

Across all year levels, students have enjoyed sharing their own music preferences, listening to different styles and showing how they want to move, sing or play along. This early focus on personal choice helps students feel confident and valued as they begin their musical journey for the year. 

Families are warmly encouraged to share with or email teachers with favourite family songs your child loves—we’d be delighted to include these in our listening explorations. 

We’re looking forward to a year filled with creativity, expression and joyful sound in every music lesson.
