YEAR 7 CAMP

BAYVIEW ADVENTURE CAMP (GRANTVILLE)
On Wednesday morning, there was a buzz of excitement as our newest students boarded the bus and headed to Bayview Adventure Camp in Grantville for three unforgettable days of challenge, laughter and growth.
From 18–20 February, our Year 7 cohort embraced their annual camp experience, diving into a program of eight dynamic activities designed to build resilience, teamwork and confidence. For many, it was their first time away as a group — and it did not take long for friendships to strengthen and new connections to form.
One of the highlights was the Giant Swing, where students were harnessed in, lifted high into the air by their cheering peers, and released for an exhilarating ride. Squeals quickly turned into proud smiles as fears were faced and conquered. The High Ropes course — featuring the Catwalk, Leap of Faith and Bridge elements — challenged students to test their balance and bravery at height, while the Low Ropes course kept things closer to the ground, focusing on communication, trust and teamwork.
Navigation and problem-solving took centre stage during Radio Run-About, with groups using maps and walkie-talkies to locate checkpoints and answer questions collaboratively. Team Initiatives continued the teamwork theme, as students worked together to solve physical and mental challenges that required patience, listening and cooperation.
On the water, canoeing in the dam encouraged partnership and safe decision-making, with pairs working together to complete games and activities. Back on land, Bush Cooking gave students the chance to prepare damper over a campfire — a hands-on experience that was both practical and delicious. Archery rounded out the program, allowing students to develop focus and precision in a supportive and well-supervised setting. And, of course, the Colour Run added a burst of energy and fun, leaving everyone smiling (and very colourful!).
Beyond the activities themselves, the true success of the camp lay in the growth we witnessed. Students stepped outside their comfort zones, supported one another and returned home with greater independence, resilience and a stronger sense of belonging within their Year 7 cohort.
It was a fantastic start to their secondary school journey, and we are proud of the way our students represented themselves and our college throughout the experience.
