Alumni Spotlight

Last Friday, we were delighted to welcome back three exceptional Berwick College Alumni to our 2026 Leadership Presentation Assembly. They shared stories of their career journeys and leadership experiences, and our students left feeling motivated and excited about the possibilities ahead.

Steve Hooper spoke about his pathway from a 14-year career in the Navy into the IT industry, where he went on to found IMS (Interpreter Management System), a specialised software platform supporting hospitals and health services with interpreter coordination around the world. His journey reflects innovation, adaptability and a commitment to improving systems that support communities. 

Lachie Fyfe, co-owner of 3806 Brewing in Berwick, shared his experience building a successful local business that has become a valued part of the Casey community. In 2025, Lachie was recognised as the City of Casey Young Entrepreneur of the Year, acknowledging his leadership, initiative and contribution to the local business landscape.

Chris May OAM reflected on his leadership roles within the Australian Army, including multiple overseas deployments, and his transition into emergency services as a Leading Firefighter with Fire Rescue Victoria. In 2025, Chris was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his outstanding commitment to the veteran and emergency services communities, a truly significant and well-deserved honour. 

These alumni exemplify our core values of Aspiration, Belonging, Community, Diligence and Excellence, showing our students that true leadership goes beyond personal achievement — it’s about serving others, building connections, and giving back to the community.

A huge thank you to Steve, Lachie and Chris for returning to Berwick College and sharing their stories. Your example is truly inspiring, and we’re so proud to see our alumni making a real difference in the world!
