Swimming Carnival and Interschool Sport

House Swimming Carnival
What an amazing House Swimming Carnival we had this year! The weather was perfect and the atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic. Students were in great spirits, creating a vibrant and positive vibe around the pool.
Many students enjoyed relaxing on picnic rugs spread out under the shade of the trees, while others got involved in a variety of activities happening across the venue. The volleyball courts were busy all day, and plenty of students participated in the land activities to earn valuable points for their House.
The novelty events were a big hit, with students collecting rubber ducks, diving for sinky toys, catching fish with nets and taking part in the ever-popular water dodgeball. It was great to see so many students getting involved and having fun.
In the pool, we saw some fantastic competition as students raced for their Houses and for a chance to qualify for Division Swimming. There were some very close races, with many students proudly wearing ribbons on their chests after strong performances.
A highlight of the day was seeing our Year 12 students enjoying their final Swimming Carnival. Their parade was full of creativity and colour, with incredible costumes ranging from trolls and dinosaurs to gorillas and much more.
The food trucks also kept everyone well fuelled throughout the day, serving fairy floss, slushies, tea, coffee, hot chips and other treats.
Congratulations to Chisholm House, who took out the overall win with 414 points, followed by Kenny House on 356 points, and Frost House close behind in third place with 350 points.
The day finished with the always entertaining Teachers vs Year 12 relay, with the teachers managing to take the win this year!
Thank you to all the staff and students who helped make the day such a success. It was truly a fantastic day enjoyed by all.
Senior Boys Tennis
The sun shone and the winds remained still making for perfect tennis weather for the boys to compete in. Will, Jack, Brodie and Trent represented the school proudly and positively against tough opponents from Gleneagles and Nossal. Will Gelderbloem was Berwick College's stand out, defeating his first opponent 4 games to 2 and pairing up with Trent Westra for a doubles victory to back it up. Jack and Brodie competed well in their first singles matches, and fought well in their doubles, unfortunately suffering narrow defeats in each. Nossal High School's team presented a tougher challenge across the board, with our team falling to each of their opponents in both singles and doubles sets, resulting in third overall place for the competition. The boys faced each opponent with spirit and demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship, with special mention to Brodie Scheiwiller for his patience and resolve in his second singles set. It was a great effort by our team, but unfortunately not enough to progress to the second round.
Interschool Sport - Intermediate Tennis
What an incredible day of tennis for our Berwick College Intermediate Teams at the Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre! Despite very windy conditions, every player gave their absolute best and represented the college with pride.
Our Girls Team managed to secure a thrilling win and progress to the next stage, while our two Boys Teams battled hard against five other schools, collecting multiple victories and only just missing the overall win. Most importantly, every student showed determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the day. The coaching team are extremely proud of all players for the way they competed and supported one another. Well done Berwick!

Berwick College Baseball Team Hits a Home Run Against Nossal
Berwick College stepped up to the plate in a thrilling final game against Nossal, delivering a performance that truly knocked it out of the park. From the first pitch to the final out, the team showed they were ready to swing for the fences and leave it all on the diamond.
One of the biggest plays of the game came when Cristian Scalia made a clutch defensive move, tagging a runner at second base for a crucial out. It was a moment that had everyone on the edge of their seats and proved that Berwick’s fielding game was right on the money.
Our outfield also made some outstanding connections. Tom Maloney and Cruz Salerno teamed up brilliantly to throw out a runner, showing that teamwork really is the secret weapon when you’re trying to cover all your bases.
On the mound, Owen Blyth delivered some fine pitching, keeping the opposition guessing and striking out chances before they could turn into runs. Behind the plate, catcher Ethan Mrozowski kept everything under control, calling the game and making sure every pitch landed right where it needed to.
It was truly a team effort, with the Berwick College squad stepping up to the plate and giving it their all. The lineup for the day included Owen Blyth, Ted Burns, Cooper Collins, Hugo Doty, Ben Hand, Tom Maloney, Ethan Mrozowski, Cruz Salerno, Cristian Scalia and Ethan Smith — a group that proved they were ready to play ball and represent the college with pride.
With sharp fielding, solid pitching and teamwork that really hit it out of the park, Berwick College showed they are a team that always swings big and never strikes out when it matters most. It was a grand slam effort from the Berwick College baseball team. ⚾
Intermediate Boys Cricket
Intermediate Boys Cricket carried themselves with plenty of enthusiasm and encouragement while they competed in a tournament of over 10 games. This meant a high aggression level of batting was needed, which was really entertaining to watch, as the boys pushed hard to run between wickets and hit the ball to the boundary. Will Walker performing well with the bat, and Josh Slater having a standout Hatrick opportunity.
The boys won two of the three games, just falling short to Nossal, by 6 runs.
The team should be proud of their efforts, and I look forward to taking this group out on many more sport days. Mark Coe
Intermediate Girls Tennis Team Triumphs
On Thursday 26 February, our Intermediate Girls Tennis Team enjoyed a fantastic day of competition, securing victories against Gleneagles Secondary College, Edenbrook Secondary College, and the strong team from Nossal High School.
The matches against Gleneagles and Edenbrook provided valuable warm-ups, allowing the girls to settle into their rhythm, build confidence and refine their skills in both singles and doubles. This preparation proved crucial heading into a tough and highly competitive contest against Nossal.
Tayla, Isabelle, Lola, Alysha, Skye and Zarni all played an important role in the team’s success. Each girl demonstrated determination, composure, and excellent teamwork throughout the day, supporting one another between matches and fighting for every point when it mattered most. The team represented our school with pride and outstanding sportsmanship.
A fantastic achievement and a well-deserved result. Congratulations, girls!
