Wellbeing & Learning Diversity

Harmony Day: Friday 20 March 2026
At St Gabriel's, we are fortunate to be part of such a culturally rich and diverse community.
We invite all children to join us in celebrating Harmony Day, a special occasion to acknowledge and embrace our diversity and the vibrant contributions it brings to our community.
Harmony Day brings the opportunity to reflect on fostering a sense of belonging for everyone. It’s a chance to honour the richness of our multicultural community and celebrate the many cultures and connections that make Australia unique.
How will we celebrate?
- Children are invited to wear orange or dress in a traditional outfit to show their support.
- We will share a snack at recess of orange-coloured foods such as oranges, carrots, and cantaloupe etc.
- Children will also participate in activities within their hubs to further explore and celebrate cultural diversity.
Let's celebrate our diversity and connection and honour a sense of belonging for all on Harmony Day!
Bullying Awareness and Prevention
At St Gabriel's Primary School, we are committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and respected. Bullying has no place in our community, and we uphold a zero-tolerance approach to bullying behaviour.
What is Bullying?
Bullying is repeated behaviour that intentionally causes harm, fear or distress. It can include:
- Verbal bullying: name calling, teasing or threats
- Physical bullying: hitting, pushing or damaging property
- Social bullying: excluding others or spreading rumours
- Cyberbullying: using technology to hurt or humiliate others
It is important to remember that bullying involves a misuse of power and is ongoing. Conflict between children that happens once, while still requiring support and guidance, is not necessarily bullying.
Our School’s Commitment
At St Gabriel’s Primary School, we:
- Promote respectful relationships and positive behaviour
- Explicitly teach children about kindness, empathy and standing up safely for others
- Respond promptly to reports of bullying
- Work in partnership with families to address concerns
- Support both the child experiencing bullying and the child displaying bullying behaviours
Our Bullying Prevention and Behaviour Management Policy clearly states that bullying in any form will not be tolerated. All reports are taken seriously and followed up in line with our school and MACS bullying policies and procedures.
Families can access our full policy via the school website or by contacting the school office.
How Families Can Help
You can support your child by:
- Encouraging open conversations about friendships and social experiences
- Reinforcing respectful language and behaviour
- Teaching children to seek help from a trusted adult
- Monitoring online activity and discussing safe digital behaviour
If your child reports bullying, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or the school leadership team so we can work together to support them.
