Wellbeing

As we wrap up another incredible year at St. John's Primary School, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the many highlights that have made 2024 such a memorable year. As your Wellbeing Leader, I feel immense pride in the way our school community has come together to nurture resilience, kindness, and a sense of belonging among students, staff, and families.

This year has been packed with engaging activities and initiatives designed to foster wellbeing and connection. From our weekly mindfulness sessions we’ve seen students embrace opportunities to build strong, supportive relationships with their peers. Our Wellbeing Week, Harmony Day, and 'b kinder' Day were standouts. The energy and enthusiasm from both students and staff for all of these activities were truly infectious.

We also worked together as a school community to revamp our Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) framework. This refreshed approach has provided clearer expectations and a consistent language for behaviour across the school, fostering a more positive and inclusive environment. The updated framework has empowered students to take greater ownership of their actions and celebrate positive choices in meaningful ways.

One of the most exciting moments this year was launching our new student wellbeing leaders. These young leaders have been instrumental in promoting inclusivity and helping to create a safe, supportive environment in our playgrounds.

As we look ahead to 2025, I am thrilled to announce our partnership with The Resilience Project. This initiative will build on our existing programs, introducing a proven framework to teach emotional literacy, gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness. Through engaging lessons and practical strategies, The Resilience Project will empower our students and staff to further enhance their wellbeing and resilience. If you would like to see what it is all about, please search up The Resilience Project and you will find everything from mission and vision statements to podcasts.

Thank you to every student, teacher, and family member who has contributed to making this year so successful. Your support, encouragement, and participation have made a world of difference. Let’s recharge over the holidays and come back ready to embrace all that 2025 has to offer. Together, we will continue to grow, learn and thrive.

Wishing you all a safe and joyful holiday season!

Warm regards,

Tracey Farrar
