COLLEGE COUNCIL REPORT
As we approach the end of another year, it’s hard to believe how quickly time has passed. It feels like just yesterday that we were all walking through these doors at the start of the year, filled with excitement, anticipation, and maybe a little bit of nervousness. Yet, here we are today, looking back at all we’ve accomplished together.
This year has been a year of growth, challenges, and new opportunities. It’s been a year where we came together as a school community to support one another, tackle obstacles, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
As your College Council President, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible individuals who have shown true leadership, dedication, and a passion for making our school a better place. We’ve had our fair share of challenges, but we’ve always managed to face them with resilience.
We gathered to say goodbye to someone who has helped us transition this school to its next phase. Anne, on behalf of the entire school community—students, teachers, staff, and parents—I want to extend our deepest thanks for your unwavering dedication and commitment this year. You’ve led with passion, empathy, and integrity, and have worked to create a school environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered.
Under your leadership, we’ve seen so many positive changes—whether it was through innovative programs, improvements in our school culture, and in improvements of our academic pursuits. You’ve set a standard of excellence that we will carry forward.
Anne will continue to impart her knowledge supporting many schools on their school improvement journeys as she joins the Department of Education as a senior advisor and we wish you nothing but success and happiness in your next challenge.
Under her leadership, this year has seen many positive changes:
Implementation of a new leadership team, structure and strategy focused on the needs of students.
Implementation of a whole school approach to setting expectations for students, staff and families, reinforcing positive behaviour and restorative practices.
We have seen the school, students and community come together to make changes, the most visible….. turning old grounds at the back of the school……. into more exciting courts for our students.
Other improvements to the learning environment include the planting of over 50 trees, installation of air-conditioning in our year 9 building and performing arts and exam hall, and new tables, carpet, and painting and repairs in many of our classrooms. We also now have an OASIS thanks to a successful grant application.
The BSCCC has warmly welcomed our Y7 cohort, brought families together and helped answer many queries, run termly meetings, social gatherings and icecream! On Tuesday night they raised just short of $7,000 at a second-hand uniform sale. Proceeds of which have purchased aid-conditioning for our student wellbeing lounge and conference rooms. We sincerely thank all the parents and carers who are driving and supporting the BSCCC in their efforts to further strengthen connections in the BSC community.
None of this would have been possible without all of you—the students, the teachers, support staff and families. Each and every one of you plays a crucial role in what makes our community so special. So, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and ideas. You are what make this college a place to be proud of.
As we head into the break and prepare for another year, I encourage all of you to take a moment to reflect. Think about the ways you’ve grown, the goals you’ve achieved, and the connections you’ve made.
Thank you for an incredible year, and I wish each of you a restful, rejuvenating break. See you all next year, ready to take on new challenges and achieve even greater things together.
Asaf Harel,
College Council President
