Deputy Principal

'May the Christmas Season bring only happiness

and joy to you and your family'

Dear Parents and families,

I can't quite believe that the year is coming to an end and we are celebrating Christmas and are preparing for 2025. What a wonderful year it has been and the resilence and flexibility our staff and students have shown over the past 6 months while we have been managaing our building program is exemplary.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Simon for his incredible  leadership of our school  and for always being a supportive and caring role model for me in my role as Deputy Principal. I'd also like to thank Karen in the office for all she does to keep the school running. We've all worked in very close quarters this semester  and we've survived with a smile on our faces everyday! We all work as a team at Sacred Heart and 2025 has really shown us how important our work family truly is.

PSG MEETINGS

Over the last few weeks and at the end of each term I have the opportunity to support some families  in PSG- Program Support Group meetings. These meetings are to support students in our school who require adjustments to access the curriculum. I work closely with Classroom teachers and LSO's (Learning Support officers) to ensure our students can work to their full potential. Effective communication between home and school is essential for developing and maintaining a positive partnership.

The aims of PSG's are to:

  • Ensure that teachers and parents  work together  to establish shared goals for the students educational future
  • Plan reasonable adjustments to the students so they have access to the curriculum
  • Monitor  and celebrate the progress of the student
  • Develop and review Personalised Learning Plans (PLP)
  • Review appropriate adjustments made to ensure students can meet their termly goals

Gus is certainly celebrating his success this year! Those smiles say it all!

MOVING UP DAY

We had a wonderful 'Moving up day' on Friday where all the students met their new teachers and we welcomed our new students and staff. How settled all the new classes were enjoying  amorning together with their new classes in their new environment. Our new staff have fitted in perfectly and we look forward to them joining our team in the new year.

Thank you to our LSO's

I would also  like to take this opportunity to thank the LSO's (Learning Support officers) for all their work this  year. They have worked tirelessly right across the school supporting our students and staff and they are the glue that keeps our school functioning. Whether it is  in intervention groups or supporting students in the classroom we are lucky to have the support across our school.

Finally, a huge thanks must go to  the Sacred Heart community for your support during my time as Deputy Principal over the past 4 years at Sacred Heart. It's been an amazing experience and I’ve loved the variety of the role and working with all of you in this capacity. It will certainly be different for me next year.  I will still be at Sacred Heart in the Learning Diversity role and I look forward to continue working with  students in Intervention.  I wish both Kate S and Sarah R (in time) all the best in their new roles in 2025.

All the very best to our Year 6 cohort of 2024 as you move onto secondary school, you will be missed but you are well and truly ready for your next adventures. I also wish our Staff leaving all the very best for the future,  you will certainly be missed from our community.  All the best Miss McKay, as you venture to the Tiwi Islands,  Mr T to Hampton Park closer to home,  Bunn Sensei enjoy your retirement (I'm jealous) and Miss Donnelly, all the very best with your new bundle of joy! You will be an amzing mum. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you all.

Wishing you all a special and happy and holy family Christmas with your loved ones. All the best for the New year and a restful holiday break. We look forward to welcoming you all back  refreshed and ready for 2025,
