Principal's Report
Simone Roy
Our annual Presentation Event was held on Tuesday the 17th of December, with many students and family members in attendance to celebrate the achievements of the year. I would like to again congratulate all students who received an award in this event. It is also important that I congratulate all the other students, who didn’t get an award, but who still work hard, show the school values and are a vibrant part of our school community.
Thank you to all the businesses, community groups and tertiary institutions that provided support for our awards. The continued generosity is greatly appreciated by the school and students.
This event is always a highlight and a wonderfully positive way to end the year.
Thankyou to all the staff that assisted, whether in the planning, or during the event. It is always a huge team effort, which I am thankful for, as it makes things work well.
We have a few staff leaving at the end of this year, who are not likely to return. Thanks to all of them for their efforts and contributing to our school community over their time with us.
Peter Zumpe took on a small contract in Semester 2 this year to cover some performing arts and music classes. This contract is finishing at the end of this year.
Nathan Selsby has been in the Jobs Skills and Pathways role for the last 2 years, supporting our students with their VET and school based apprenticeships. Nathan is planning to focus on a teaching role next year. We wish him all the very best.
Rosemary Oldis has been with us since part way through 2016. She has taken on a range of different roles over her time with us, teaching in a range of learning areas, supporting students with special learning needs and most notably implementing a Literacy Consolidation class to help support students with their literacy skills. Rosemary has decided to retire, so will be leaving us, however she has not discounted the idea that she might still be available for filling in when staff are absent.
This is never a good time to be writing reflections, as the end of the year is always very busy and tiredness is setting in! However, we did, and always do, make it, with plenty of laughter and a sense of buoyancy due to knowing how much we have achieved as a team this year.
Thanks to everyone for making 2024 another great year! Our students learnt lots and hopefully had lots of fun along the way. Our Year 12s are moving on and up in the world and our new Year 7s have had their transition days, to help ease them into Secondary school. Meanwhile, our Year 10s and 11s have had a bit of a longer break in readiness for their senior years in VCE and our Year 7 to 9s battled in a fierce competition, to see who the ultimate winners of the CONNECT Program would be.
It is now time to make sure everyone has a relaxing holiday. Please be safe in everything you do and take the time to prepare for another big year.
