Children's University
Have you heard of Children’s University? Modbury School P-6 will be partnering with Children's University again in 2025. Children's University provides an exciting extra-curricula opportunity for our Year 3 - 6 students in 2025.
We are partnering with Children's University to facilitate superior educational experiences for students outside of school hours and recognise their achievements through a graduation ceremony with certificates.
Children's University does this by leveraging local educational activity providers such as museums, theatres, school clubs and sports groups. Engaging a wide range of experiences such as these is proven to develop a child’s self-efficacy, confidence and aspirations. They are encouraged to explore new ideas, concepts and experiences – not simply stick with what they know!
All learning must be linked to a higher education course. For example, a school gardening club links to agronomy, microbiology, botany, and food science.
It’s an innovative program that engages children and young people in exciting, out-of-school learning opportunities to increase their chances for educational achievement and rewards them for taking responsibility for their own learning.
The program began in the United Kingdom and is now available across the world in places like Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Africa!
Today, Children’s University works with community and cultural institutions, supports the development of school-based clubs and activities, and provides so many opportunities for parents and communities to engage in the education of our young people (because they are our future).
Our students receive a Passport to Learning where hours of extra-curricular activities are logged. Hours are accumulated and once the hours needed to graduate are achieved, members are presented with Children’s University certificates at a formal graduation ceremony held at their partner university.
