Our SAC meets termly and is here to represent the parent community. Please contact them if you wish to bring something to the attention of the Council or to discuss your ideas or thoughts about ways to add to our community.

Chair's Report

On the 30 of October we had our last SAC meeting for 2024.

The planned works for the redevelopment of the school and playground are progressing. No works will start until mid to late term 1 in 2025. Stay tuned for further updates.

Further NAPLAN results comparing St Michael’s to the state and national averages were viewed and discussed. Results were within acceptable parameters. As always there is more that can be done to improve our children’s learning, which the staff will continue to work towards in 2025.

A number of other operational items were discussed, such as enrolments for 2025, class formation and fees for 2025. Enrolments are progressing well and as per this year, there will be a number of composite classes in 2025. As expected fees will increase to help support better learning for our children. Thankfully the increment in fees are less than 10%. Denise will advise of the new fees in the coming weeks.

Some great activities have occurred during term 4. One of which, was the art show that was held just recently, and as well as seeing some great pieces of art, the school raised valuable funds to help support future activities. Please check the schedule of events in Operoo for all the end of year activities coming up.

At this point I would just like to thank all staff for their efforts on teaching our children and all the parents who have devoted their time to support all the great activities over the year. I would also like to thank the other SAC members for their input into the year and providing valuable advice to the leadership team. While it is still a few weeks away, I would like to wish everyone a great end to the year. I wish all the best to all the year 6s for their new adventures in year 7 next year and hope their years at St Michaels have been a great learning, social and spiritual experience.

Finally to all the staff, children and parents, I wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.
