From the Leadership Team
Dear GPS community,
As the curtain closes on the 2024 school year, I take the opportunity to thank you all for helping in so many different ways to ensure that GPS and its students have enjoyed a fabulous year of learning and fun.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year of leading our amazing school community and excitedly look forward to what the future holds.
We have a truly special school community and one that is doing and will continue to do amazing things. This community spirit was certainly on show and at its finest on Tuesday evening when we gathered together for our end-of-year concert.
It was truly a wonderful evening and one that I will certainly remember of children, staff and families coming together to celebrate the end of a school year together. I’m looking forward to continuing to build our strong, close-knit community in the coming years.
Given this is the final newsletter for the year, I take the opportunity to thank and acknowledge groups of people who work tirelessly to ensure our learners get the very best primary school experience possible.
Firstly, I acknowledge our wonderful staff. It truly has been a privilege to work with them and get to know them through the year and I have been blown away by their professionalism, dedication and team work. We are truly blessed to have the staff team that we have at GPS and thank them all for their efforts throughout the year and wish them a happy, restful and safe summer break.
I also acknowledge the GPS Governing Council whom I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with during the year. We have a passionate group of parent representatives that serve on our Governing Council and they have supported and encouraged me from the very beginning of my journey at GPS. I am very grateful for the service they provide our community and very much look forward to continuing our working relationship during 2025.
It has been amazing to witness so many volunteers giving of their time for the school this year. I thank every single member of our community who has volunteered their time in any way through the year. It makes a huge difference and helps us so much; thank you.
To our graduating year sixes, I wish you well as you move off to high school and thank you all for your contributions to our school and leadership throughout 2024.
Finally, I thank all of our students for everything they have contributed to our school during 2024. I’d especially like to thank them for making me feel so welcome at GPS. It has been great getting to know our kind and friendly students. It is an absolute pleasure to come to work each day and be able to spend time with our wonderful young people. I wish all of our students a very Happy Christmas and a fun and safe summer break.
Kind regards,
Darren
Junior Choir
In week 8, our Junior Choir performed some lovely Christmas pieces at The Grove Shopping Centre. They sang each piece from memory with tuneful voices and bright faces, and demonstrated wonderful behaviour and talent.
The children in years 2-4 danced with scarves and entertained the crowd with their 'moves like Santa'! We are very proud of our 19 performers and thank their families for supporting them to attend and Lisa Woods for her wonderful leadership.
