Week 9 Greetings

As we approach the final two weeks of the school year, it's hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. This year has been filled with many memorable moments, and I’m proud of all our students for their achievements. Two significant events stand out during Semester 2: the incredibly successful Undokai and the Year 5/6 Japan trip. The Undokai was a highlight, with students showing great teamwork and sportsmanship in a fun and competitive atmosphere. Our Year 5 and 6 students also had an unforgettable experience during their trip to Japan, where they had the chance to immerse themselves in a new culture and practice their language skills. These events, along with many others, have made this year truly special.

Looking ahead, we still have some exciting events before the year concludes. Our End-Of-Year Concert, featuring student performances, promises to be a fantastic celebration of the students’ creativity and hard work. We also look forward to Meet the Teacher Day, where students will have the opportunity to meet next year's teachers and classmates. In addition, our Year 3/4 students will be having an engaging incursion, while the Prep students will have their own exciting excursion.

A quick reminder that Monday, 9 December, is a pupil-free day. There will be no student attendance on this day as our teachers will be engaged in planning for the 2025 school year. It’s an important day for our staff to collaborate and prepare for an exciting year ahead.

As we nearly come to the end of this school year, I want to wish all our families and staff a safe couple of weeks, I look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming events.

Japan Trip

Mr Strain posted some photos on our last school newsletter and you might be all very aware of what we were up to through the entire duration of the trip. I would like to start from congratulating the 20 students who took part in this wonderful adventure along with our three amazing teachers, Kurokawa Sensei, Miss Molloy and Miss Guzman. All of our students truly embraced all new and unfamiliar experiences, completely immersed themselves in the Japanese culture and language and proudly represented our school. Secondly, I would like to express my appreciation to parents of those students for trusting us and supporting us through the duration of the trip. Lastly, I would like to give a big shout to Kurokawa Sensei, Miss Molloy and Miss Guzman for their dedication and commitment to our students. This trip wouldn’t have happened without you and thank you for being such positive role models.

Snapshots from the classroom

This week, I visited Miss Guzman’s classroom where her students were learning to design a product based on a design brief. Students collaborated with their peers to design and build a bridge that can either open or lift as a part of their STEM unit. It was great to see our students collaborating to achieve a shared goal of building a bridge!!

When I visited Mari Sensei’s classroom, her students and Klein Sensei’s students were practising for their play in which students deliver their lines only in Japanese. Students were practising singing, so beautifully switching between two languages, while following instructions from their teachers. I can’t wait for their performance!!
