Reporting Requirements

There are many requirements of a school to report different levels of Government for legal and funding purposes.  During term three there are two significant data collections that take place every year across all schools in Australia.

1) School Census Day (August 2nd 2024) - It is on this day and the 20 days prior that we report the number of students who attend, and our federal funding is assigned to the school according to our enrolments.

2) Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) - The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

•            year of schooling

•            category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional

•            level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.

This information assists schools to:

•            formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools

•            consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools

•            develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.  Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).

Neither of these events have direct impact on your child/ren and they will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified.

3) Persistent Absenteeism Reporting

As a Principal I am required by the Education and Children's Services Act 2019, to report students who fail to attend school for 10 or more days each term.  These are unexplained absences and permission granted for Family Leave and illness are not counted.

If you have any questions about the School Census, NCCD or the Persistent Absenteeism, please contact me directly.
