Feats of Strength!

Psalm 18 1- 3 reads "I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my saviour; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.  He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies."

When I was thinking about what it means to be strong, I thought of how we can be strong in different ways… to be strong at something, you need to put in practice and effort – to keep trying your best and exercising the thing that you are aiming to become strong at.

People can be physically strong, mentally strong and emotionally strong.  I am sure that I would be able to get stronger at each of these if I exercised and practiced more in each of the areas.

Spiritual Strength is my goal

To get spiritually stronger I can 'exercise' by reading the Bible, praying, and spending time with others talking about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

I can also increase my spiritual strength by putting on the Armour of God each day (Eph 6:10 - 18)

Belt of truth - God's word is truth and lies have no power.

Breastplate of righteousness - Jesus makes us right with God and nothing can shake that!

Shoes of peace – calling us to spread the good news of God's love and peace.

Helmet of salvation - to protect my thoughts from the evil one knowing that I am saved through Jesus Christ.

The sword of the spirit - the word of God.  Satan has no power when God's word is spoken aloud.

Shield of faith - to deflect the arrows of mistrust and doubt.  It is also Jesus - he absorbs all that we cannot handle.

Putting on the 'Armour of God’ makes me Spiritually strong and it helps me get through all of the bad things that come along, and to rejoice in all of the good things that come along in life. It helps me achieve Feats of Strength!
