Welcome Back/Maths and English Overview/Production/5-6 Timetables
Welcome Back!
Welcome back to Term Three! We have a very exciting term with our whole school production next week as well as sporting events, athletics, district and regional events, free dress days and more!
Maths and English - Term 3 Overview
Maths: This term in Mathematics we have learnt about the topics of: number patterns and sequences, cartesian planes and fractions, decimals and percentages.
Coming up later this term students will be learning about area and perimeter, money and financial matters and how to convert different measurements of length.
English: In Writing, students started the term reviewing the structure and features of narrative writing. Classes developed a narrative plan together and students used this plan to write and publish a narrative piece. This week, we have been looking at Australian athletes currently at the 2024 Paris Olympics with students completing an athlete profile about an athlete.
In Reading, we started the term learning about refugees; defining refugees, how do refugee travel to different countries, how are refugees supported in new countries etc. This links to the novel we will be reading later this term 'Boy Overboard' by Morris Gleitzman.
Production
Students in Year 5/6 have been very busy getting ready for our whole school production "Cinderella and Rockerfella". Students have had their dress rehearsal and been doing extra practices to ensure they are ready for their big night. Next week we will be heading to Burrinja for our whole school tech rehearsal before the performances on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th August.
