2025 Year 8 Band Program

The subject selection booklet for Year 8 2025 will be sent out next week. One of the specialist subjects on offer is the Year 8 Band Program. 

This exciting program pairs students with an instrument and teaches them the skills required to play it. Best of all, students don’t require any musical experience; just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. The link below has further information about the program and a timeline of events.

A Parent Information Evening will be held on Thursday 8 August at 6:00pm in the Performing Arts Centre.

Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival

The start of term has been busy with several performances which started with a group of students performing the Fanfare at the festival’s Opening Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral. This week the flute ensemble, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble and guitar ensemble have all performed and done us proud.

Over the next two weeks, our vocal soloists, Rock bands, Latin Ensemble, Jazz Band, Senior and Junior Jazz Combos and a violin solo will all perform in different venues around Perth. 

The Performing Arts Festival is a festival rather than a competition and while there are shield winners in the different sections it is more about giving students from around the state the opportunity to perform and to get feedback from adjudicators. Some of our boys are in several ensembles and bands as well as performing solos. All the performances are valuable for our musicians.

On Friday 30 August we will hold the Best of the Fest which, as the name suggests, is a concert featuring groups and solos from the festival. Mark the date in your calendar as it is always a great night. Information about tickets will be available in the next few weeks.
