Science Week

We celebrated Science Week at St Joseph's College last week with a range of exciting lunchtime activities across both campuses.

The theme for science week this year is: Species Survival - More than just sustainability. The theme aims to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world.

At Kildare Campus we had a talk with Lauren Smith and Darren George from Vicparks focused on the plains wanderer and the important conservation work they do to protect and rehabilitate this important species.

We also investigated bacteria, exploded hydrogen balloons, made liquid nitrogen ice-cream and had a periodic table competition which was won by Lily Warren who successfully named all 118 elements!

At Brigidine Campus we ran a lunch time escape room where 14 teams of 2-5 students competed to see who could escape the room the quickest. The winning team was the Spudders - congratulations to Max Thornton, Cody Mann, Harry Limbrick, Josh Wright and John Davey who escaped the room in a time of 9 minutes 52 seconds!
