We are learning to compare and order common unit fractions.

VOCABULARY

Fraction: A number that is a portion of something, not a whole number.

Common fraction: a fraction (such as ¹/₂ or ³/₄) in which the numerator and denominator are both integers and are separated by a horizontal or slanted line.

Number line: a line on which numbers are marked at intervals, used to illustrate simple numerical operations.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to write down 10 common fractions and then order them on a number line.

Ask them to explain why they placed the fractions where they did.
