Partnerships and Pathways
Term 3 has started with exciting news and opportunities on the horizon for partnerships and students’ future pathways!
Hundreds of students from Years 7-12 have recently been recognised for their involvement and participation in a range of pathways events throughout the year so far - including coaching conversations, excursions and of course Lunch & Learn. These achievements have been acknowledged with Merits and Participation points and will also be featured in students’ Semester 2 reports. Plus keep an eye out for our Pathways Certificates to be announced soon!
CSPD wants to make a difference to the dreams of Year 12 students aspiring to become teachers through the Teacher Scholarship Program 2025. The initiative includes: $5000 tuition support for each year of study (up to four years), a laptop, professional development and networking, access to peer support and the opportunity to work as an Associate Teacher while studying. There is also the chance to apply for permanent employment in a CSPD school upon graduation. Interested students can apply between now and Friday 27 September 2024. To begin the application process, students will need to complete the Expression of Interest form as soon as possible to allow ample time for the next steps in the application process to be completed. For more information you can read this flyer, watch this video visit the Teacher Scholarship Program page or email earlycareers@parra.catholic.edu.au. To register for one of two Zoom information sessions (6 August at 6pm and 28 August at 6pm) please email earlycareers@parra.catholic.edu.au.
This week a keen group of Year 9 and 10 students enjoyed an inspiring visit to FUJIFILM Australia and FUJIFILM Sonosite at their Macquarie Park office, in a unique collaboration designed to promote careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and to address the gender disparity in this field. Our students sat in the corporate boardroom and engaged in discussions about career opportunities, met with a panel of accomplished women in STEM, and participated in hands-on workshops featuring Fujifilm's cutting-edge technology and equipment. Two recipients earned generous prizes from Fujifilm - a portable camera and speaker - as recognition of their insightful contributions to the discussions! This invaluable experience provided our students with the knowledge and inspiration to consider and pursue STEM careers within the medical imaging industry. We hope this collaboration fosters a new generation of female leaders in STEM, empowering them to break barriers and achieve great success! With much gratitude to Stewart, one of our Year 7 parents, for initially reaching out with this opportunity and being instrumental in making this event at FUJIFILM Australia come to fruition in such a brilliant way!

For our Year 12 students and families - a few reminders as we head to ‘the business end’ of the HSC journey:
- Students can apply for undergraduate courses via UAC (the early bird discounted fee of $80 ends on 30 September). Steps to Uni for Year 11 and 12 Students has lots of information.
- Once they have applied to UAC, students have access to SRS (UAC’s version of early entry, which closes on 16 September) and EAS + they can revisit and re-evaluate their preferences
- Here are the key dates to be aware of from UAC to mark on the calendar
- Keep an eye out for each university’s deadlines for their direct early offer programs
- These are the upcoming Uni Open Days - to help make decisions around where and what you want to study.
- Keep working on your Post School Plan (on the Careers Canvas home page)
- Students unsure about 2025 should come see Kara or Adam in the Library or send an email.
Students from Years 7-12 can keep up to date with all our careers news and resources - including Careers at Canvas, the Ponder Pathways Hub and Beyond.
