Year 4 Urban Gardening

Mrs Hewitt, Mrs Bunn and Mrs Williams have helped us as we have been working hard during our gardening sessions. We have been planting a number of vegetables, weeding, mulching and composting. We have been working on this every week and that is why we wrote this article. This article shows you why we do gardening so we can help the environment. By caring for our school’s garden, we are encouraging other students to take care of their own gardens at home. So we encourage you to take care of your garden at home. Gardening can help in not letting greenhouse gases escape into the atmosphere where it will reduce global warming and less carbon dioxide.

During Gardening Club at lunchtime on Wednesdays students have been helping to rake up leaves from the oak trees and putting the leaves into our compost bins.

Today 15 students helped to plant cuttings of Warrigal Greens into 35 pots. If they grow well, we might be able to sell them at our market stall in a few months.
