Our Grade 6 students have been sharpening their money-smart skills as they explore percentage discounts and what it really means to be a savvy spender.

Using the language of “percentage of” and “percentage off,” they’ve been working out just how much they could save on everyday items — from sneakers to snacks!

To tackle these challenges, students have been drawing on their understanding of fractions and division, using bar models and dual number lines to visualize their thinking and prove their solutions.
