It’s been such a joy connecting throughout the year. Our Coffee Mornings are all about bringing our school community together, sharing conversation, and supporting one another’s wellbeing. Let’s come together one last time in 2025 to celebrate our wonderful school community and a mindful moment, before the busy end-of-year period.
We’d love to see you there!
I Believe in Us Day
Last week, students from Foundation to Year 6 came together to celebrate I Believe in Us Day, a special day dedicated to recognising the unique qualities that make each of us an important part of our school community.
In their classrooms, students reflected on what makes them special and how their individual strengths and talents help make our school a better place. They explored the idea that believing in us means celebrating everyone’s contributions and learning to be kind, helpful, and proud of one another.
Throughout the day, classes read books and shared stories that highlighted the beauty of being different and the power of working together. Students also took part in a whole-school chalk drawing activity, filling outdoor spaces with colourful symbols, drawings, and positive messages of encouragement, and belonging.
It was a joyful and heart warming day, filled with creativity, connection, and celebration, a true reminder that together, we can make our school bright, welcoming, and full of kindness.
URSTRONG
Teaching your child to manage conflict in a healthy way will help ensure they have positive relationships throughout their lives. Dana Kerford, founder of URSTRONG and a friendship expert, recommends friendship coaching, so instead of leading negotiations in our children’s relationships, parents should support and coach them from the sidelines.
Here are some helpful tips from URSTRONG on how to be a Friendship Coach:
Reframe friendship conflicts as learning opportunities
Research shows that children with strong social skills grow into more successful adults. These skills can be taught, and friendship problems provide a chance to teach vital social skills, build resilience, and strengthen empathy.
Listen and empathise
Listening is often a skill that is overlooked. Our children often want to feel heard, validated, and understood. What seems simple or minor to an adult can feel overwhelming to a child.
Teach your children the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships
Ask your child if their friends make them feel good about themselves. If not, encourage them to spend time with those friends who treat them in a way that feels positive. Emphasise the importance of trust and respect in friendships. Role model how to kindly and respectfully communicate, whilst making good choices for themselves.
Be a good role model
Show children what kindness looks like through your actions and interactions with others.
Share stories
Sharing your own experiences or stories of others overcoming similar difficulties can help guide your child to solutions.
