From the Rector

Dear Mazenod Families,

As we reach the end of term, I definitely give thanks for the many Moments of Grace that I have had the joy to witness, experience and share. When our eyes are open to it, these moments are everywhere.

Last weekend, I visited one of our boarding families in Cunderdin and was invited to have a look at some beautiful wildflowers just behind their property. The flowers were beautiful as was the welcome I received. I shared the picture with a friend of mine in Melbourne who is experiencing a health journey with cancer and she found them so beautiful, she has printed it out to have with her in hospital while undergoing treatment. These were Moments of Grace for me.

This week also saw us gather for the Grandin House Mass and a special Mass for the Year 7 Water Expo. These masses provide a very special opportunity to gather in the Chapel and reflect on some of the deepest aspects of faith and life. We are blessed at Mazenod that the community of students, staff and families are so reverent to the presence of Jesus at the Mass. As a result of this openness, the doorway to people’s hearts is also open.

I congratulate our Athletics Team of students, staff and families for once again representing us with great distinction. Their teamwork, hard work and dedication helped them achieve great results. Thank you most sincerely to all involved.

I enjoyed a very blessed Oblate Retreat in Victoria and was able to bring the intentions of our community to God in prayer. I sincerely thank everyone who was able to say a prayer for our Oblates while on retreat. It is deeply appreciated.

Our Year 12s celebrated their final Mass together as a Year 12 cohort this week and it was great to be able to offer our community’s thanks and also to offer the boys a blessing of care for the next stages of their journey.

I know from our Boarders, they are very much are looking forward to their holidays at home and these are precious times to connect back into the rhythms of family life. An extra prayer for favorable weather would be very appreciated by our farming families whose hard work has combined with positive weather for hopefully a great crop.

I wish every family a safe, holy and happy break and may it be a time of enriching renewal and love. If you do get the chance to support our regional communities, I can assure you that the wildflowers are in great abundance in many accessible places. Whenever you see these flowers out in the wild, it would be great to dedicate a prayer for peace in areas that need it most.

Take Care and God Bless
