Visual Art

Mr Caisley's Year 9/10 Visual Art assessment task required students to create Sea Form sculptures using rice paper and plastic reeds.

Take a look at the amazing Hybrid Body Artwork made by Mr Caisely’s Year 11 Visual Art students! This project mixes pictures of people with things from nature, technology, and fantasy to create cool and creative designs. Well done to all the Year 11 students for their hard work and great imagination!

Congratulations to Ali and Tristan for their commendable achievement in receiving a highly commended recognition, along with a $25 prize each, for their artwork showcased at the Stanthorpe Gallery!

English

This term the Year 7 English classes have been studying a drama text, based on the world of Harry Potter.  Students have worked for the last 6 weeks in a group-work task on a Fantastic Creature, researching, creating and making, as well as learning how to work effectively as both a leader and group member. Our last day on this task was a BBQ and games day!

A huge thanks to the kids, teachers and SLSOs who made this such a fun unit! A special mention to Kerri and Vanessa for baking Hogwarts themed cupcakes for everyone in Year 7.

Technology Metal

Congratulations to Will Brown for winning the prestigious rocket stove competition in Mr Sproule's metalwork class, with judging conducted by Mr Jones. Students have been learning essential skills through the use of the metal lathe, a machine tool that enables precise shaping of metal components. As part of their practical projects, they are designed and constructed rocket stoves—efficient and portable cooking devices that utilise minimal fuel to generate significant heat, making them ideal for outdoor cooking and camping.

Science

The exploration of forces and energy in Ms Parker's Year 7 Science class involved the construction and testing of rubber band-powered boats. Following these initial experiments, students engaged in the development of innovative new designs.

Ms. Parker's Year 7 Science class is currently exploring Newton's Laws and the principles of force through an engaging experiment involving balloon rockets.

Mathematics

Miss Green's Year 7 White class conducted their mathematics lesson outdoors today, utilising chalk to draw and identify the translation of coordinates and shapes, with their peers serving as markers.
