Welcome to our final newsletter for the term! This is an absolute bumper issue as so much has happened during the second half of the term.
Yesterday, we farewelled our Year 12 students at a lovely ceremony that was, we believe, the most well-attended event our school has hosted in a long time. We even had to bring chairs in from classrooms to accommodate everyone! It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate. A special thank you to Mrs Karen Cooper, Year 12 Year Adviser, for her unwavering support of this year group. Congratulations to our Year 12 students on your graduation – we are very proud of you. Best of luck with your HSC exams, and we look forward to seeing you at your formal.
This week, we also held our formal assembly where we inducted our new school captains and leaders and recognised a number of achievements from this term. We are very proud of Jahmal and Ava, our new school captains, as well as Shelby, Ellie, Amber, Lara, and Madde, our new school leaders. We know you will all do a terrific job and be fantastic role models for our school community.
Congratulations to the students who represented us at the CHS State Athletics in Sydney this month. In particular, well done to April Van Dyk for coming second in the High Jump and Toby Rolph for placing sixth in the 100m final – both impressive achievements! Thank you to Mrs Amanda Jones who supported the smooth running of this event.
We also celebrate our Tenpin Bowling team who competed in the State Finals in Sydney this week, finishing 21st out of 31 teams. Not bad at all for a team without access to a bowling alley! The boys also enjoyed the opportunity to explore Sydney’s sights. Thank you to Ms Zoe Olive for making this memorable experience possible.
Today, we say farewell to Mr James Furminger, who has done a fantastic job implementing an engaging Year 10 boys' program this term. Highlights included volunteering at the Men’s Shed, completing a group challenge on Mt MacKenzie, and networking with a variety of local businesses and employers. We wish James all the best in his new role managing the pool and hope he can return in the off-season to work with us again.
Thank you all for your support throughout this term. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday, and we look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday, 14th October.
