Prep

Term 4s Physics Unit came to an end in a flourish of paper helicopters, and students summarised their favourite moments in this term’s unit ‘On the Move’.

This term the Preps’ Chemistry unit is ‘Made of Materials’ where students will consider traditional materials for clothes, such as cotton and wool, as well as investigating the materials used to make shelters and buildings. They will also focus on laboratory safety as they undergo a range of fun, hands-on experiments.

Grade 1

In the last weeks of our Light and Sound Physics unit, Grade 1s completed their light boxes - which will be on display during the Art Show in Week 4. They also explored shadows, understanding that light travels in a straight line.

This term the Grade 1s’ Chemistry unit is ‘Bend, Twist and Melt’, where students will explore how everyday materials can be physically changed in a variety of ways. They will also focus on laboratory safety as they undergo a range of fun, hands-on experiments.

Grade 2

Grade 2 completed their Physics unit by creating and testing paper planes, then drawing reflections and labelling the forces weight, lift, thrust and drag. They have summarised some of their favourite experiments.

This term the Grade 2s’ Chemistry unit is ‘Mixing and Making’, where students will investigate the effects of mixing materials together and explore how certain materials, such as paper, can be recycled into new products. They will also focus on laboratory safety as they undergo a range of fun, hands-on experiments.
