Auslan News

Molesworth St Campus

From Simone, Junior school Auslan teacher

Term 4, Week 1: The Wheel of Fortune

Students identified one of the following signs in a game called Wheel of Fortune: kind, lucky, unlucky, naughty, okay, sorry, sleepy, upset, emotions, smiley, worried, confused, curious, forgetful, patient, hungry, thirsty, hopeful, cry, calm.

Based on the American TV show, students watched Ms Simone spin the Wheel of Fortune (on the TV), and stealthily wrote down their guess in their book. Prep students worked as a class to guess the answers and Ms Simone would write them on the board. The class only had 3 guesses per round, and students could only guess once to ensure more students had a go.

A couple of students asked for the website so they can generate their own spinning wheel, so feel free to check out this draw-and-drop wheel generator!

How can I help?

Ask your children to sign to you how they felt today and encourage them to teach you the signs they are picking up on!

Please feel free to print our Feelings classroom poster to pop on your fridge and practice with your children.
