It’s been a significant fortnight for our Year 12 students, who have now completed their time at Belmont High School with a memorable Celebration Morning to mark the end of their classes. The morning was filled with energy, dress ups, shaving cream and flour as we acknowledged the contribution this cohort has made to our school community.

Now, just four days into their VCE exam period, our students have settled into their final stage of secondary schooling with focus and determination. We wish them all the very best over the coming weeks and look forward to celebrating their achievements at Graduation.

Held on Monday evening, the event once again showcased the remarkable creativity, innovation, and skill of our students across visual art, photography, product design, digital media, and food technology.

The exhibition space was alive with colour and imagination, and it was wonderful to see so many families, staff, and community members come along to support our talented students. The standard of work was outstanding and a real credit to the dedication of both students and staff across the Arts and Technology learning areas.

A special mention to this year’s award recipients:

Congratulations to all students involved — your work continues to make Belmont High a place where creativity and innovation thrive.

Year 12 Celebration Day

Our Year 12 celebration day took on a different look this year with an outdoor format for the festivities. Students arrived in their themed costumes and celebrated together in a relaxed, supervised environment. The move outside created a positive and inclusive atmosphere, while ensuring the celebrations remained safe and well managed.

This new approach — separating the formal assembly from the more festive Celebration Day — provided a balanced way to both honour our Year 12s’ achievements and allow them to enjoy their final moments together as a cohort. Feedback from staff, students, and families has been extremely positive, and we plan to continue with this format in future years.

Our 12’s are now one week into their exams and powering towards the finish line.

Year 10 Consent Labs Day

Yesterday our Year 10 students participated in an important and engaging Consent Labs Day, focusing on building awareness and understanding around respectful relationships and personal boundaries.

The day began with all students attending a comprehensive session on consent, exploring what consent looks like in a variety of contexts and why clear, respectful communication is so important. Following this, students split into smaller workshops to engage in more targeted discussions, with our male students exploring positive masculinity and the ways they can challenge stereotypes and support one another, while our female students focused on healthy relationships, communication, and empowerment.

A big thank you to Consent Labs for delivering such professional, informative, and age-appropriate sessions, and for working closely with our staff to ensure our students received meaningful learning experiences on these essential topics.

2025 Awards Ceremony – Save the date

On Wednesday 17th December, we will proudly host our Annual Student Awards Ceremony in the Belmont High School Gym, commencing at 6:00pm.

This special evening celebrates the achievements of our students across all year levels, recognising excellence, endeavour, leadership, and contribution to school life.

Invitations to the ceremony will be sent to families via Compass Events. Students receiving sponsored, recognition, subject, or sport awards will receive their invitations in the coming weeks. Recipients of Excellence and Endeavour Awards will be notified once the final reporting cycle closes, on or around Monday 8th December. Our Year 12 award recipients will be contacted by phone once VCE results have been released.

Please note that the event will be ticketed, and all attendees must book tickets using the link or QR code included in the invitation.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office on 5243 5355.

Orientation Buddies Program

Year 8 and 9 students are currently putting their names forward to be buddies for our Year 6 – 7 transition and orientation programs.

They will undertake buddy training and are an important element to supporting the transition of our next cohort of Year 7 students into the school. Please get your child to reach out to House Leaders or Mr David Fanning if they’re keen to take part.

Buddies will be exempted from classes on Tuesday 9th December to participate in the orientation program.

Kind regards,
