The library team are gearing up for a week of Halloween inspired activities, displays and all things spooky! We have planned a variety of events such as daily quizzes, a Kahoot, treasure hunt, craft activities, music performances and more. Please encourage your student to pop into the library and participate in one of our events and pick up a scary book from our displays.

Week 5 is everything Manga related in the library. Our Manga books are one of our most popular collections because of the relatable characters, illustrations, and storylines. Manga offers a wide range of genres that appeal to different tastes, from high-energy shonen and fantasy to romance and comedy. This means there is likely a Manga for every student! We have a range of activities ready to go including a Manga drawing session run by some of our Year 8 students.

The library team are also preparing for our annual Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge luncheon, and we look forward to celebrating with English staff and the seventy-eight students who successfully completed the challenge and, in doing so, gaining the educational benefits of regular and sustained reading.

As a librarian there is nothing more satisfying than turning a reluctant reader into an avid one. If you are having trouble getting your young person to read, then please encourage them to visit the library and to reach out to a library team member. As J.K. Rowling says, ‘If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book’. The library team are eager to find that right book for all our students whether they are regular readers or reluctant ones.
