People were at different stages of making them at the start of the day but now we're all around the same stage.

Everyone is now currently onto decorating and painting their toolboxes and are going to be working on dividers in the middle of the toolbox next.

Some of the guys are working diligently on the outdoor chairs soon to be completed, we are going to be working on a final project later which is wooden moving birds.

Chanel and Nhu,

HoL team members.

In Hands on Learning on the 18/09/25 we dug out the mulch and used the wheelbarrows to put the mulch in the garden.

We also pruned the plants. Some of us refurbished the wooden chairs, after that we made fruit platters and ate as a group.

Everyone finished their toolboxes or started their next project of flapping wooden birds.

We then started to prepare the veggies for the barbecue and invited lots of teachers to join us.

We cooked the barbecue, and everyone ate lots of food. Finally, we cleaned up the rooms, so it was ready and spotless for the next term.

Thank you to the staff members who came to say hello.

In Hands on Learning on the 17/10/25 the majority of the class started the new project of flapping birds, some people decided to use the scroll saw to make their own birds while others used the pre-made wooden bird and wings by Russell and afterwards sanded the wooden cutouts down.

A couple of students were still finishing last terms projects on toolboxes, making their finishing touches.

Most people made a start on painting and decorating their flapping birds with patterns such as gradience and designs.

A few people who finished painting early moved onto drilling the holes into the painted cutouts.

Students were required to bring outdoor clothing (closed shoes and long pants a must), water bottle and a phone if they wanted to take photos. We arrived at 9:30 and took an hour and a half walk looking at the environment and animals, many individuals picked up golf balls from the ground to help the snakes that mistake them as eggs because Keilor public golf course is nearby.

Ben was very helpful and explained everything about the environment in simple terms for us and then we returned to school and continued to work on our flapping birds with most people completing it by now.

The majority started on the new project of creating model rockets, students were to collect the base made by Russell and then get wooden rectangles to saw and turn them into the fins to attach to their model rocket.

Some students drilled a hole into the bottom of the model rocket to add a rocket motor inside the hole later.

Afterwards, they glued their wings onto the base and waited for it to dry for about 1-2 hours. Around the end.

A couple of students got up to painting the first coat of white onto their model rocket, ready to paint, decorate and work on for next week.
