From the Principal Class

Welcome
Congratulations to all of students who have successfully involved themselves in a range of different activities over recent months from Camps, Sport, Performing Arts, Work Experience, Leadership Programs and Competitions. So much has occurred at the college during this time and we hope you enjoy reading about them in the college newsletter.
Year 12 Celebrations
At the end of last month, we said farewell to the Year 12 class of 2025. It was a lovely occasion, and a fitting tribute to a really delightful, caring and thoughtful group of young people. Lots of emotions were witnessed from the students as they celebrated their final day of school on Tuesday, October 21st 2025.
Their costumes were creative and colourful, and the students, although sad at leaving, enjoyed the wonderful celebration of them and their time at the school. After being clapped into school for the last time by Year 7 students in a guard of honour, students participated in a day full of activities. After the assembly, they were invited to a 'Last Lunch' where they enjoyed a feast of food and then danced in the afternoon. Many photos were taken to capture their last official school day, and their treasured friendships. The last song brought tears to many students and it took them a very long time to exit the grounds once the festivities were over.
Thank you to the senior sub-school team and all of the other teachers that organised a lovely day; and to the Year 12’s who celebrated with joy and respect and, again made us so proud to work with them.
I would like to acknowledge the amazing contributions of Tahlia Seath and Cindy Tran as school captains this year and many thanks also go to all of the Year 12 student leaders. I have been incredibly impressed with the work being done by these student leaders and the wonderful support they continuously provide their peers.
All the best for the upcoming results and we look forward to seeing Year 12 students with their families at the Year 12 Graduation on December 2nd 2025.
Senior School Examinations
As we approach the end of the year, our Year 10 to 12 students have been busy sitting their end of year exams. Our Year 12 VCE students completed their VCAA exams on Wednesday, November 19th 2025. VCE teachers have prepared them very well and we wish each and every student the very best for their upcoming results.
Year 11 VCE students completed their Semester 2 exams on Friday, November 14th 2025. Year 10 Semester 2 exams ran from Monday, November 17th to Friday, November 21st 2025. Year 10 and 11 examinations are followed up with two weeks of the commencement program where all VCE students are expected to attend. These weeks are the first two weeks of Units 1 and 2 and students who do not attend will be automatically deemed at risk.

These in include the Ensembles Concert, Dance Concert as well as performing at a number of primary schools and at the local shopping centres at Watergardens and Keilor Central. Feedback from the community has been extremely positive.
Our students will once gain be performing at the Taylors Lakes Primary School Fete on Friday December 5th 2025.
Finally, congratulations to Nicholas and Ann Maree who were invited to a Morning Tea with Dylan Alcott. Dylan gave an inspirational talk focussing on inclusion, representation, and celebrating disability.
2026 Student Booklists
Years 7 - 11 students and parents have received their booklists via Compass for next year. Parents should note that a number of textbooks will be changing across all year levels due to changes to the college's curriculum in line with the Victorian Curriculum Standards.
College Magazine
Our college magazine, which is a wonderful celebration of school events this year has arrived and will be distributed to all students who have purchased it. Congratulations to Alyshia Monaco for her work in putting the magazine together again this year.
Schools' Privacy Policy
Schools’ Privacy Policy notifies the school community that information about students is shared to fulfil our core function: educating and supporting our students. The Schools’ Privacy Policy also establishes a clarified ‘need to know’ framework. This empowers all school staff to share information about students with other staff who need to know. This is consistent with Victorian privacy law. Parents can read more about this using the below link:

Reminder to log your child's absence on COMPASS
A reminder to all parents to please record your child's absence on COMPASS if they are not going to be at school. If this can please be done by the start of the school day of the absence. This is a simple process. If you use the App on your phone, just click on the shortcuts button at the bottom and 'report an absence' or from a computer desktop you will see the link on your homepage. At current, our attendance officer is inundated calling parents whose children have not come into school, and parents are aware of the absence. This takes away from the important work we need to do supporting children and families where attendance is of a greater concern. From last month we have also trialed a new SMS system for notifying parents whose children are absent in the morning. Thank-you for your support in addressing this. If you are having any issues logging onto COMPASS please contact our IT desk for support. - it@tlsc.vic.edu.au
Update about Craft Sand Recall
We are providing an update about the recent recall of craft sand products that may contain asbestos. National and Victorian health authorities have advised that the possible risk to human health from these products has been downgraded from low to very low. At our school, this has had very little impact, nevertheless, we are taking the steps set out by the Department of Education for any safe disposal. If you have the product at home, please follow advice from the health authorities. Stop using the craft sand and follow these steps for safe clean-up and disposal:
