Teaching and Learning

From Mr Collins 2-6
Chance and Data
The kids found a way to learn while eating chocolate at the same time. Let me introduce to you... "MnM Data Day." We concluded that there are on average 107 Mini MnM's in a container and that orange is the post popular colour.
World Map
Here is an updated picture of our world map that takes up an entire wall in our room. It now has all continents separated and every country has been placed in "mostly" the correct places. We have spent a lot of time reminding ourselves of the continents and even created a list of each continents countries. The next step for us is adding oceans and populations before venturing onto landmarks, wonders of the word, currencies, flags and traditions.

Yarning
Last week in P/1 we enjoyed a special Yarning lesson out in nature. We went on a walk and collected some interesting natural treasures like leaves, sticks, and rocks. Back in class, we used the rocks to create our own natural paints by mixing them with water and drawing our discoveries. It was a cool way to connect with Country, explore creativity, and share our ideas together during Yarning time.
Maths
This week our Prep/1 students put their measuring skills to the test by baking a delicious cake. As part of our Maths unit on measurement, students carefully measured ingredients, compared quantities, and discovered how Maths is used in everyday life.
Active Kids are Healthy Kids
The kids are really enjoying the new safety net on the trampoline!
Milo has been back with us on Wednesdays and is teaching us all about tennis and golf. The kids are enjoying so much that most are choosing to practice during recess and lunch time. Milo will be back again next Wednesday.
