Year 11 & 12

Year 11 and 12 TAFE Applications for Semester 2 – NOW OPEN!
For many students, realising the challenges at school in Years 11 and 12 can be confronting and overwhelming. Other options are available if this is the case, especially for current Year 12 students. Students may apply for TAFE courses to commence in Semester 2. If accepted, students will have a choice whether to accept the offer. It is better to apply than not!
Please note, Applications for TAFE Mid-Year entry OPENED on Monday 29 April and CLOSE ON Thursday 5 June.
Application Assistance: If you require assistance with applications, please contact:
Melinda Kennington (VET Manager) (Melinda.Kennington@education.wa.edu.au, or
Katie Spencer (Tuesdays only) at Katie.wadham@education.wa.edu.au . Please note that Katie is only available on Tuesdays.
There has been a significant increase in course availability in some areas. It is essential to understand that completion of TAFE courses results in an alternative entry pathway to university if that is what a student has in mind in the future. Many students are more suited to the practical nature of a TAFE course. TAFE campuses have staff available to provide information about courses and pathways into the future. There is also extensive information online for parents and students.

Year 11 and 12 Exams – Friday 23 May (Week 4) – Friday 6 June (Week 6)
The Senior School exams get underway on Friday 23 May and continue for the ENTIRE duration of weeks 5 and 6 this term (excluding only the Public Holiday in Week 6). Our consistent message to all students is to control the controllable (their effort and preparation) and if they have prepared for their exams well, then the results will take care of themselves.
This is an excellent opportunity for them to determine if their preparation processes are effective. If not, they have time to make the necessary adjustments to refine their exam technique for future examinations.
As always, we encourage students to look after their well-being between exams. Health advice is to ensure that nutrition, sleep, and hydration are at the forefront of students' minds. Exams are only one measure of a student's level of understanding, and whilst the exams are an essential aspect of Years 11 and 12, they are not a measure of a person's worth, despite what students think.
Below is a link about how parents can support their children in navigating this challenging but regular event.

Students will have received their examination timetable this week and should ensure they know exactly when their exams are scheduled.
